Breaking a Coconut

We got a whole coconut for the kids to crack open. They each got a turn to wack it with the hammer.


They had a great time, but unfortunately it was rotten inside and could not eat it. I love fresh coconut and was so bummed. Maybe we will try again. Anyone know how to choose a good coconut?
